WE BUY SURPLUS WIRE FROM HOSPITALS, PLANTS AND CAMPUSES
Capital projects buy cable to a schedule that then moves. Staged reels, shutdown spares and re-scoped lab fit-outs get priced on the tag.
Institutional and process work runs on long schedules and fixed budgets. An imaging suite is wired for equipment that ships late. A plant shutdown is planned around cable that a formula change makes unnecessary. A lab is fitted out and then fitted out again. Cable arrives early and stays after the plan moves.
We buy wire and cable from hospitals, pharmaceutical and chemical plants, food processors, agricultural equipment manufacturers and university facilities in Kansas, and arrange the pickup. Reels, coils and opened cartons are all priced on what the tag says and how much is left, and a partial length is quoted rather than turned away.
Hospitals, clinics and research facilities
Healthcare work is phased because the building cannot close. A renovation is wired in stages, and each stage buys cable to the drawings of the day. When a phase is re-sequenced, the material for the later stage sits in a storage room with the tag still on it. Imaging equipment replacements bring their own feeders and control cable.
University and research buildings behave the same way on shorter horizons. A lab fit-out follows a grant, the grant ends, and the equipment specified changes. Cable ordered for the first layout is often still on its pallet when the second layout is priced. Campuses at Lawrence and Manhattan both run facilities work of that shape.
- Phased renovation staged ahead of the work
- Imaging and equipment installs with dedicated feeders
- Lab fit-outs re-scoped after equipment changes
- Decommissioned runs from a floor being reconfigured
- Campus distribution cable replaced and left on the reel
Pharmaceutical and chemical plants
Process plants buy cable to a specification and hold spares for the next shutdown. When a batch change or a capacity change alters the electrical scope, the spares stay sealed. Classified areas bring their own cable types, and instrumentation cable ordered for one loop package rarely transfers cleanly to another.
Shutdown spares are the largest single source. Cable is bought per shutdown rather than per foot, and unused reels return to the warehouse to wait for a scope that may never repeat. Instrumentation and control cable is the usual remainder, along with shielded pairs and communication cable.
Food processing and agricultural equipment manufacturing
Food plants rebuild lines around product changes, and washdown areas need cable that is not the same as what feeds the rest of the building. When a line is re-powered or a freezer is reworked, the previous run comes out and the new specification goes in. The offcut reels stay in maintenance.
Agricultural equipment manufacturing looks like any other fabrication shop from the electrical side: welding cable and SOOW drops, control cable between cabinets, tray runs over assembly bays. Kansas carries both sectors in quantity, the packing plants of the southwest and the equipment works of central Kansas, and both leave the same handful of items behind.
- Welding cable and SOOW drops from fabrication
- Tray and control cable from line rebuilds
- Washdown-area cable replaced on a specification change
- Motor leads and feeder offcuts from a re-power
- Boxed branch wire left after a package was re-scoped
Records, access and the loading door
Institutional sellers keep records, and that is an advantage. A work order number, a storeroom part number and the reel tag together identify material faster than any description. Where a hospital or campus holds the original submittal, the voltage class and insulation type come straight off it.
Loading follows the building rather than the wire. Hospitals and labs mean service elevators, docks with height restrictions and delivery windows. Food plants mean washdown rules at the door and a trailer that arrives clean. Say which applies before the pickup is scheduled, because it changes the truck and the hour.
The offer is wire and cable only. We do not buy transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, chillers, autoclaves, freezers or process machinery, and general scrap goes to other buyers. Where a closeout package mixes cable with equipment, the cable is what gets photographed. The quote form takes the photographs and the list.
- Reel tag, storeroom part number or work order
- Footage per reel and whether it has been cut
- Voltage class and insulation, from the tag or the submittal
- Building access: dock height, elevator, delivery window
- Site rules for the driver, including sign-in and PPE
Collect the tags, the part numbers and the photographs from every department holding cable. One list from the whole facility prices better than four separate enquiries, and pickup is arranged once you accept.

QUESTIONS FROM THIS SIDE OF THE LOAD
Can we sell cable bought on a capital project?
Yes, once the project no longer needs it and your own accounting will release it. Surplus from a capital job is still surplus and is priced like any other unused reel. Mention the project only if it helps identify the specification or the purchase record.
Do you buy small quantities from a single department?
Yes, though small lots are usually worth combining with the rest of the building. A single partial reel is a thin reason to send a truck; a shelf of them is not. Gather what maintenance, the lab and the dock are holding, then send one set of photographs.
What about cable installed and then removed during a renovation?
Yes, if it comes out in usable lengths. Cable removed during a renovation is salvage rather than new stock, and it is priced on condition and metal content. Coil it and tie it before it goes into a cart. A loose pile of short pieces ends up valued by weight alone.

TELL US WHAT YOU HAVE
Send the details and photos of the reels. A tag photo and a jacket photo answer most of our questions, so you do not have to measure anything twice.
- Wire and cable only: no transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators or machinery.
- Full reels, partial reels, spools, coils and boxed stock all welcome.
- Statewide Kansas pickup arranged after we agree on the load.
