SURPLUS WIRE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED PLAINLY
Scope, condition, paperwork, photos and coverage. If something is missing here, call and ask.
Scope
What kinds of wire do you buy?
Copper and aluminum building wire; THHN, THWN, THWN-2, XHHW and XHHW-2; MC, AC, tray cable, VFD, TC, PLTC, SER, SEU, URD and USE-2; bare copper, insulated copper and grounding wire; welding cable and SOOW; control, instrumentation, communication, shielded, fire-alarm and low-voltage cable; and 5 kV through 69 kV and above cable in EPR, XLPE or concentric neutral.
What do you not buy?
Transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, motors, industrial machinery, fixtures, pipe, strut and mixed scrap metal. Wiring devices and equipment are not wire, so they are not part of an offer.
Do you buy full reels only?
No. Full and partial reels, wooden reels, spools, coils and boxed inventory are all bought, including new surplus, unused, overstock and cancelled-project stock. Partial reels are most of what we see.
What sizes and voltages?
Common sizes from #14 through 1000 MCM, including 1/0 through 4/0 and 250 through 1000 MCM. Voltage from 600 V building wire up through 5 kV, 8 kV, 15 kV, 25 kV, 35 kV and 69 kV and above for shielded medium and high voltage cable.
Condition and paperwork
Do you buy used wire?
Decommissioned cable is considered case by case. It needs to be identifiable, reasonably clean and long enough to be worth handling. Short cut lengths and stripped conductor are usually declined, and we say so directly.
What if there is no tag?
Photograph the jacket print and the conductor ends. The legend normally gives type, size, voltage and standard. Without either tag or legend, an offer has to be based on metal and construction alone, which is a lower and less certain number.
Are damaged reels a problem?
Not automatically, but say so. Crushed flanges, water damage, UV-cracked jackets and cable that has been dragged over gravel all affect what can be recovered. A photo of the damage is more useful than a description.
Do you need an inventory sheet?
No. A list per reel is helpful, but photos and a count are enough to start. If you already have a stock list or a bill of materials, send it; it saves a round of questions.
Process and coverage
Are you located in Kansas?
We buy across Kansas and arrange collection statewide, but we do not publish or claim a Kansas office, yard or staffed location. Everything starts by phone, email or the quote form, and collection is scheduled after the load is agreed.
Which parts of Kansas do you cover?
The Kansas City metro, Wichita and south-central Kansas, northeast Kansas, central Kansas and western Kansas, including Wichita, Overland Park, Kansas City, Olathe, Topeka, Lawrence, Shawnee, Manhattan, Lenexa, Salina, Hutchinson, Leavenworth, Garden City, Dodge City, Emporia, Pittsburg, Junction City, Derby, Hays and Liberal.
How many photos should I send?
One per distinct reel type: the tag, the jacket legend and the conductor ends. Add a wider shot of the stack. The form accepts up to three files and 10 MB in total; for more, call and we will take the rest by text or email.
Is the quote form the only way to start?
No. Calling or texting +1 (614) 715-3047 works just as well, and is easier for large or awkward loads. Email works too if you already have the photos on a computer.

TELL US WHAT YOU HAVE
Send the details and photos of the reels. A tag photo and a jacket photo answer most of our questions, so you do not have to measure anything twice.
- Wire and cable only: no transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators or machinery.
- Full reels, partial reels, spools, coils and boxed stock all welcome.
- Statewide Kansas pickup arranged after we agree on the load.
- Prefer to talk it through? Call +1 (614) 715-3047.
STILL NOT SURE?
One photo of the tag settles most questions faster than a paragraph will.
