WE BUY OVERSTOCK AND RETURNED WIRE FROM DISTRIBUTORS

Inventory that stopped moving is still inventory. Discontinued lines, unpicked special orders and cut-length remainders get priced by part number and footage.

A distributor's surplus is inventory that stopped moving. A manufacturer discontinues a line. A contractor's special order is never picked up. A branch consolidates its racking and finds reels that have sat in the same bay since the last physical count. The cable is still good. It is holding space that could carry something that sells.

We buy wire and cable from electrical distributors and wholesalers in Kansas, single reels and full lots, and arrange pickup from your dock. Pricing follows the part number and the footage on the reel tag rather than the weight of the metal, so a discontinued line is quoted on what it is and not on what it weighs.

Where distributor stock goes quiet

Inventory goes stale for reasons that have nothing to do with quality. Demand shifts from 12-gauge to 10. A spec change moves a job from aluminum feeders to copper and leaves the aluminum on the rack. A customer orders 2,500 feet, takes 1,000 and never comes back for the balance. A branch closes and its slow stock follows the surviving location home.

Cut lengths are the quietest write-off. Every partial sale leaves a reel with an odd remainder, and after a few years there are forty of them. Individually they are small. Banded onto one pallet, they are a quote worth making.

  • Discontinued and slow-moving lines
  • Special orders that were never picked up
  • Customer returns that will not restock as new
  • Cut-length remainders and partial reels
  • Overstock moved in a branch consolidation
  • Damaged cartons with sound wire inside

Part numbers beat descriptions

A distributor's records are better than most sellers'. Part number, catalog description, quantity and footage are already in the system, and the reel tag repeats them. Send the line items with quantities and photograph the tags. That produces a faster and more accurate quote than any description of what the wire looks like.

What the system cannot tell us is condition. Photograph the wrap, note whether cartons are factory sealed, and say which reels have been cut. Voltage class matters most on medium-voltage stock, where a 15 kV reel and a 25 kV reel of the same footage are not the same material.

Dock, pallet, trailer

Distributor wire loads quickly because it is already packed for shipping. Reels roll or lift by forklift, cartons stay on their master pallets, and banding is usually intact. Loading is at dock height into a van trailer or onto a flatbed, whichever the pickup allows. Reels sorted onto one pallet are the easiest lot to price and to load.

Tell us what the dock can take: forklift capacity, whether a full trailer can turn in the lot, and whether the material sits in a back bay or up a mezzanine. Anything upstairs or behind a narrow door takes longer, and it is better to know that before a truck is scheduled than after.

What the quote needs from you

Have the line list and the photographs ready and the rest is arithmetic. The quote form takes the list and up to three photos in one pass.

The offer covers wire and cable only. Transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs and machinery stay off the list, as does general scrap metal. If a pallet mixes cable with equipment, split it before the photographs and the pickup. The FAQ page answers the questions that come up most often about condition and quantities.

  • Part numbers, quantities and footage per line
  • Photos of the reel tag and the jacket legend
  • Which reels are cut and roughly how much is left
  • Whether the material is at the dock or deeper in the building
  • Dock hours and any delivery window the lot imposes

Pull the line list, photograph the tags, mark which reels are cut and note where the pallets sit. That is the whole of it. A quote comes back on material that can actually be loaded, and pickup follows once you accept.

QUESTIONS FROM THIS SIDE OF THE LOAD

Do you buy a whole discontinued line or only the fast movers?

Both, though they price differently. Common sizes and classes are easy to place and are priced accordingly. Slow sizes are still bought, usually at a wider spread, because they take longer to move. Send the full line list and the answer covers the whole lot rather than a selection of it.

Does it matter that the cartons have been opened?

Not to the wire, but it changes how the lot is read. Factory-sealed cartons count as new stock. Opened cartons holding full coils are still good material. Cartons that were cut, re-taped or stored damp need a photograph of the coil itself so the insulation can be judged on what is visible.

Can you collect from more than one branch?

Yes, when the branches sit within reasonable reach of each other. List each location with its own line items and footage, and say which one holds the most material. Routes are planned around the largest pickup first, so a smaller branch on the way adds little to the trip.
